Tod Mountain Ranch is a dude ranch located in BC’s Southern Interior who placed our Western Lights in their cabins and guest rooms. The ranch can accommodate up to 16 guests in their new guest cabins, each with a private bathroom. Guests share a western style living, dining and games area in the guest lodge. An inclusive resort means you get three cowboy meals a day along with some great BC wines and Canadian beers.

During the day, they conduct horseback riding tours on their 30,000 hectares ranch. A ranch that includes miles of mountain trails in the forest that surrounds the ranch. The ranch is home to deer and moose, among other creatures of the forest. Look up and you might see a bald eagle or hawk flying overhead. Sounds like the perfect place for some of our lamps, eh? You’ll find two of our handmade Western Lights adorning and lighting the lodge and cabins at Tod Mountain Ranch. Inside the cabins, our Cascade Horse Table Lamps sit on the night stands. In the Lodge, you’ll find our Rocky Mountain Table Lamps; one with Moose and the other with Deer. They selected these lamps because of the three-way lamping, the brightness of the light it provides and the powder coated finish.

This past week, we worked on a custom light proposal for a hotel in the forests of Oregon. They requested an Eagle soaring on one of our light fixtures. Since we have a talented and artistic staff, we were able to create a drawing and convert it into a Eagle light, base on our popular Cascade Large sconce. This is just one example of how a Made in USA lighting company can quickly design and make a unique lighting fixture.

As far as lodge style lights are concerned, the Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine location features many styles of our rustic sconces, chandeliers, semi-flush and close to ceiling lights. We did some customization by converting everything to compact florescent and 277 volts. Here are a couple of the lights you’ll see a lot of in your visit.

Western elegance can mean many things. In this case the simple design of the Ridgemont Series, the rustic, hand finished metal and the rough cut edge are hallmark features which distinguish these lights as western style. A few years back, the owners of the Inn at Cape Kiwanda renovated all the bathrooms in the inn–where every room has a view!–to include the Avalanche Ranch Lighting Starfish Vanity Light. The combination of the cobalt blue vanity and the rust patina of the light is fantastic. Also scattered throughout this 35 room inn in the delightful seaside down of Pacific City OR are Starfish Reflection Sconces, shown here next to the grand fireplace in the lobby–which looks out onto Haystack Rock. Avalanche Ranch Lighting prides itself on the ability to customize almost any light with a specific design motif–in this case the starfish.
Consistently rated at one of the best beaches to vacation with your dog(s), we found the big dune and the Pelican Inn and the lovely Inn at Cape Kiwanda reason enough to want to return to this gem sans pets. Just waiting for the perpetual rains to end…

Avalanche Ranch Lights in the Marine

Our first stop on the tour of rustic lights across America takes us to the San Juan Island of Orcas. Just a ferry ride away from Anacortes, WA, Orcas Island is home to the YMCA Camp Orkila. We visited Camp Orkila a few years back for Family Camp and had a blast–also good fun to find our lights in the Marine Center. I recommend attending Family Camp to introduce elementary age children to the idea of sleep-over camp and all the joys of the camp experience, especially the nightly campfires which included skits and songs. In our case, fond memories of Grandpa Charlie playing his guitar.

The Travelin’ Trout Sconce is one of Avalanche Ranch Lightings original designs. It is handcrafted and handpainted and looks great on these knotty pine walls. We supplied the camp with the individual metal salmon cutouts for the assemblage of fish on the wall. Also in the Marine Center is a Salmon Crestline Chandelier, shown below.
